Ten years a world record holder!

Britannia’s doorman, Herbert Klein, is celebrating a decade in the Guinness Book of Records with a campaign to raise money for the Children's Clinic at St. Olav’s Hospital.

Did you know Britannia’s doorman, Herbert Klein, is a world record holder? In 2012 he was the manager of a fish restaurant in Trondheim called Havfruen (‘The Mermaid’). During that year’s Trøndersk Food Festival Herbert and his team made the world’s biggest mussel soup, weighing an almighty 4,898kg, as recognised by the Guinness Book of Records.

On that occasion he raised over 100,000 kroner for the Children’s Clinic at St. Olav’s Hospital. Now, as the ten-year anniversary of the achievement arrives (a record which remains unsurpassed), Herbert, Britannia Hotel and the Trøndersk Food Festival are once again championing the cause of children in difficult circumstances, and they need your help.

Starting Wednesday this week (27th July), Brasserie Britannia will be serving a special version of their mussel soup, inspired by Herbert’s record-breaking recipe in 2012. Twenty percent of every sale will be donated directly to the Children's Clinic at St. Olav’s Hospital in Trondheim.

The sale will continue throughout the food festival and until the end of the week (last day Sunday 31st July). In the year when Trondheim-Trøndelag are celebrated as European Region of Gastronomy, this is a great opportunity to raise awareness and money for a worthy cause, and make life easier for children who are in a difficult situation.

Herbert has also set up a donation page (in collaboration with Spleis and SpareBank 1) where you can donate directly to the cause. It is open now and they have already taken an impressive 300,000 kroner!
